Adam was born and raised in eastern South Dakota, a land of abundant wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. He attended school in Flandreau, SD, and has been drawing wildlife since the day he learned how to hold a pencil. However, most of Adam’s free time was spent participating in some form of sports. Football, Basketball, Baseball and Golf were all extra curricular activities he enjoyed and worked hard to succeed at. Although very little time was left for art, Adam still managed to do a lot of drawing – even a painting from time to time and was very successful with that as well. In his Junior year of high school, he was awarded 1st Place at the Augustana College High School Art Competition.

After graduating from high school in 1995, Adam attended South Dakota State University. While studying for an athletic training major, he took an art class and new immediately that he was pursuing the wrong career. That single 3 credit class made Adam realize that the only way he would ever be happy is if he could exersize his artistic mind on a daily basis. In 1998, Adam Oswald graduated from Southeast Technical Institute with a degree in Graphic Design.

In 1999 he began to take his art career serious. Starting out by entering duck stamp competitions and donating original works of art to organizations that are involved in improving habitat and wetlands. The demand for Adam’s work and the attention he has gained has drastically increased ever since. In 2002, the National Farmer’s Union commissioned him to create a painting celebrating their Centennial Anniversary - the original artwork hangs in the NFU Headquarters and the prints were sold in 48 states. After placing in the top 5 in most of the duck stamp competitions he entered, his dream of winning one came true in 2005, when he was awarded 1st Place in the Nevada Duck Stamp Contest.

Currently, Adam Oswald’s art consists of different styles, mediums and subject matter. Working with Oil and Acrylic paints, he is able to paint breathtaking scenes that depict some of his greatest passions in life. He prides himself on the time, effort and labor put into each piece of art, while he usually has at least three paintings in progress at one time he only completes 6-9 originals every year, which makes them high demand and a tough commodity to come by. When a collector purchases an Adam Oswald original work of art, they can be assured that it is one of a kind and that Adam has put all his efforts into the piece to make it the best he could.

Giving back to the habitat and wildlife is an important aspect of Adam's career. He often donates to and is an avid supporter of; Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Boone & Crockett, Pope & Young, and the North American Shed Hunters Club (NASHC). Adam also donates a painting every year to the annual Marvi Gras Golf Tournament in Flandreau, SD - proceeds go to the Justin "Marv" Jewett Memorial Scholarship fund.
